Howard Eugene "Gene" Pinnell, 76, of Weirton, WV died Friday August 23, 2013 at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born on November 14, 1936, in Vinton, OH, Gene was a son of the late Howard R. and Edna E. Chasteen Pinnell. He was also preceded in death by his son, Rusty Scott Pinnell in 1983, and his wife, Virginia M. Watson Pinnell on September 12, 2002.
Gene served his country with the United States Air Force from 1956 1960.
A member of the Teamster's Union, Gene drove truck for over 40 years. His last years of driving, were spent hauling steel with Weir Cove Moving and Storage in Weirton, WV.
Golf was one of his passions. Being a good golfer, Gene enjoyed golfing Woodview and many other courses with his golfing buddies.
He is survived by his three sons, David Michael Pinnell of Apollo Beach, FL, Alan Eugene Pinnell of Allegan, MI, and Kelly Len Pinnell of Anchorage, AK; two daughters, Rema Jean Smith of Brandon, FL; Sonja Toreen Pinnell of Allegan, MI; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Pinnell of Toronto, OH, and Robert Pinnell of Weirton, WV; sisters, Shirley Ann Roush of Wichita KS, and Linda McCarthy of Hancock, NC; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street where funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday.
Dr. Ed Rudiger will preside.
Interment will follow at the Saint John's Cemetery, Follansbee, WV, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
