ian rood
Ian Edward Rood, 34, of Weirton, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011 in a boating accident on the Ohio River. Born September 14, 1976 in Steubenville, OH, he was the son of James and Rita Gentile Rood. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Larry Gentile and paternal grandparents George and Beth Baker Wilson. Ian was Christian by faith and a member of the Laborers Local 373 in Monroeville, PA. He was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting and a good game of basketball or volleyball with his friends and family. In addition to his parents, Ian is survived by his grandmother Levina Douglas Gentile of Weirton. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be celebrated at 11am Thursday. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Memorial contributions in Ian's memory may be made to his family.
