James Arthur "Art" Shreve, 98, of Weirton, passed away Friday, November 07, 2008 at the Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born September 15, 1910 in Wetzel County, WV, he was the son of the late James Emry and Mary Ellen Moore Shreve. Mr. Shreve was also preceded in death by his wife Genevive Stowell Shreve, brothers Harry and Marion Anderson, Anthony, Hiram and Arvel Shreve, infant sister Goldie Shreve and sisters Alta Anderson, Ida Moran and Dorothy Mabel Glover. Art was a farmer and, with 43 years of service, he retired from Weirton Steel. He was Protestant by faith, a member of the WSX 25-Year Club and Weirton Senior Center. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Art is survived by his cousin, John Moore, several nieces and nephews, including Neal Glover and his wife Lorraine and John Moore; nieces Mildred Green and Mary Ellen Knight and very special friends Ed and Beth Anderson. Friends will be received from Monday from 11AM until time of 12PM noon services at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton with Reverend David Shreve officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad and Weirton Honor Guard.
