James Baker, 92, of Weirton, WV died Thursday, December 5, 2024, at home. He was born on March 20th, 1932, in Doddridge County, West Virginia, a son of the late Jim Baker and Laney Phillips Baker.
Jim entered the Army during the Korean War on December 12, 1952. After he got out of the service he was employed by Weirton Steel for 46 years as a welder. He was a man of faith attending the Tri-State Church of God in Weirton.
He will be remembered with love by his children Terry Ray Baker, Sr. Step-children Terri Boyce, Connie McLaughlin and Darla Frederick; Grandchildren James Keller, Carrie Keller Magnone, Sabin Boyce, Larissa Boyce, Logan McLaughlin, Amanda Armstrong, Jessica Emery, Shawn Anderson, Desiree Anderson; great-grandchildren Terry Ray Baker, Jr, Casey Baker, Erin Baker, Marcello Magnone, Kiara Magnone, Nichelle Feryanitz, Joseph Feryanitz, Calista Boyce, Brendon Boyce, Eric Tingler, Neveah Tingler, Devyn Anderson, Jackson Anderson, Ezra Jenkins, Caleb Anderson, Miriah Anderson, Reagan Anderson, Jayden Anderson, Jeramiah Anderson; great-grandchild Aiden Feryanitz.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Baker who passed away on February 16, 2021; a brother Budge and sisters Hazel and Grace; sons-in-law Charles Burnfield, Tim Frederick, and Robert McLaughlin, daughter Kathy Kellar, stepson David Tingler; grandchildren Joseph Boyce, John Anderson, Heather McLaughlin.
Friends can visit Jim’s family on Monday, from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV., where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 am.
Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Pastor Kurt Moser will officiate.
Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #10 Honor Guard and the West Virginia Army National Guard.
