James Joseph George, 58, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Weirton and Follansbee, WV, died Thursday February 25, 2010. Jimmy was born on July 30, 1951 in Steubenville, a son of the late Walter and Ethel Smerecansky George. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert George in September 2009. Jim retired from Weirton Steel after 36 years of service. Prior to his retirement, Jim was working at the General Offices as an inside sales representative. One of his favorite pastimes was dining out with family and friends. An Eagle Scout, Jim was a member of the Restoration Church in Pittsburgh, Weirton Steel Male Chorus, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Tassey George of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, Brian M. George of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Laurie Cortes and her husband, Antonio of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren, Tyler George, Luca and Marcos Cortes. Private visitation and services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association PO Box 3980 Charleston, WV 25339

  1. Patty, I was deeply saddened to here about Jim’s passing, we had many good times working together in the sales department and he was the kind of guy who was a friend to everyone he will be missed. My condolences to you and your family.
