James W. Worstell

James W. Worstell, 97, of New Cumberland, formerly of Burgettstown, PA, died Friday, May 09, 2003 at his home. He was born April 13, 1906 in Canonsburg, PA, son of the late Otto and Pearl Harding Worstell. James was also preceded in death by his wife Janet Wilson Worstell and his sister, Helen Murray.
After 27 years of service, James retired from the transportation department of Weirton Steel where he worked as a yard clerk. He was a member of the Colliers United Methodist Church, WSX 25-Year Club, Richard Vaux Lodge #454 in Burgettstown, a charter member of the Tri-State Steam Engine Association and a life member of the Jefferson Township Historical Society.
He is survived by his son Walter Leon Worstell and his wife Mildred of Burgettstown, PA; two daughters, Marla Simmons and her husband Bud of New Cumberland and Sally Minich and her husband Ted of Hawthorn, PA. James also has 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 – 9:00PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday with Reverend Billy Ray Carpenter presiding. Interment will be at the West Middletown Cemetery.
