Jay Clark Householder

Jay Clark Householder, age 91, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2016 at Weirton Geriatric Center surrounded by his loving family. Born November 7, 1925 in Toronto, Ohio, he was a son of the late Roy and Edith Clark Householder. Also, preceding him in death were his 3 infant children and son-in-law, Nick Zatezalo, Jr.
Jay was a graduate of Toronto High School. He served four years in the United States Navy. He also was a graduate of the Pittsburgh School of Aeronautics. Jay retired from Conrail following 40 years of service, was a member of the Transportation Communications Union/IAM International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the First United Methodist Church. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Weirton Masonic Lodge 171, A&A Scottish Rite of Wheeling and the Weirton AARP. He loved gardening and woodworking, making many wood craft items as well as doll houses for his granddaughters. He loved spending time with his grandchildren whom have many wonderful memories.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Filipovich Householder, having just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this month, of the home along with his two children Becky Zatezalo and Jay G. Householder all of Weirton; four grandchildren Joshua (Jenn) Householder, Jaime Househoulder (Steve) Youst, Lindsay Zatezalo (Mike) Kalata and Jesse Householder; eight great-grandchildren, Rory, Cady and Penny Youst, Nicholas and Maximus Kalata, Autumn Brown, Wyatt and Summer Householder; brother Donald Householder and sister Marion Householder both of Toronto, Ohio.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many wonderful care givers at Weirton Geriatric Center who became like a second family, the late Gary Hanson, MD and Amar Khurana, MD who graciously stepped in to give Jay such wonderful loving care.
Per Jay's request there will be no visitation. Private services will held at the convenience of his family. Interment in Union Cemetery, Steubenville, Ohio. Memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church, Salvation Army or St. Jude's Hospital.

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and brother. I got to know Mary and Becky while visiting my Mom and Brightwood and then at Weirton Geriatric Center. May God grant you peace and comfort today and in the future. Hold on to your precious memories of Jay.

I’m sorry for your loss. Lots of memories of Jay from growing up on Titus St. He was a good neighbor to me since I moved back. Praying for comfort for the family/

A wonderful man, a funny guy with beautiful eyes…I spent many hours of playing and later just visiting with Jay and Mary. My best and longest friendship with Becky and Mary will be my fondest memories..My thoughts are with Jay G Beck Mary and the entire family….with years of love Arlinda Ferrelli Russell
