jeffery wenger
Jeffery Gerrard Wenger, 68, a lifelong resident of Weirton, WV died Sunday, March 13, 2022, at home peacefully in his sleep. Jeff, Class of 71’ from Weir High, retired from Weirton Steel after 36 years of service—A jack of all trades, from general laborer to a roller on No. 9 Tandem Mill. After retiring he would joke that he was still “going to work,” at some of his favorite local establishments like Enzo’s and the Legion. He was a member of The Sons of the American Legion, Paris Sportsmen Club, and McDonald’s Sportsmen Association. As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed listening to the Pirates on the radio and was a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder for many years. Jeff was happiest having a drink and a laugh with friends, and he had the charisma to find friends old & new wherever he went. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Bowers Wenger; his sister, Christine Rogers; and his nephew, Kelly Rogers. He is survived by his son and his wife, Adam Jeffrey, and Bobbie Jo Wenger; brother, Mitch Wenger; and other family and friends. All are welcome to celebrate one last cheers for Jeff on Wednesday from 9-11AM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St. in Weirton, to remember his life and all the good times. Following Jeff’s service friends are requested to gather at Noon for a continued time of fellowship where food and refreshment will be served at The American Legion in Steubenville, located at 808 North 5th Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jeff’s memory to Stjude.org. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com
