Jeffery James “Too Tall” Hans, of Weirton passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the age of 69.
Jefferey was born in Steubenville, OH on May 6, 1952, to James H. and Madge Lipke Hans.
He grew up in Weirton, WV, and graduated from Weir High School in 1971, where he excelled in basketball that resulted in a college scholarship.
He passed on the scholarship and went to work, as many young men did at that time, at Weirton Steel Corporation. He worked for over forty years before he retired from the fuel department in the tin mill.
In his free time, Jeff enjoyed golfing with his friends on Mondays and Thursdays at Highland Springs Golf Course and traveling to area courses on Wednesday. He also enjoyed getting together with his friends at the VFW and American Legion to drink and sing Karaoke.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be remembered with love by his wife, Patricia Hirkala Hans; his son, Jeff and Layna Hans and their daughter, Jordan (Christian) Shrader; his daughter, Rachelle Utz, and her husband, Nathan, and their children, Micah, Triston, Andrew, Trevor, Gavin, Landon; his great-grandchildren, Camryn and Kai; his two sisters, Linda Hans, and Paulette Wright
Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV
A funeral service will be conducted at 8 PM in the funeral Home
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 10 or the VFW 2716.

Patty, I am so sorry for the loss of Jeff. I know what you are going through as I just lost Herb in mid-April. There are no words to explain the feelings that you are experiencing at this time.
