jennifer oklok

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jennifer Anne Oklok, 50, of Weirton, WV. Jennifer passed away on August 12, 2023, surrounded by the love of her parents. She leaves behind an enduring legacy of love, resilience, and boundless compassion.

Jennifer was born on April 23, 1973, in Weirton, WV, to her devoted parents, Mike S. and Olivia A. Difelice Oklok. From the very beginning, her life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family.

Born with challenges, Jennifer’s journey was one of courage, resilience, and profound care. Her parents, along with her brother, Brian, embraced their roles as caregivers, ensuring that Jennifer’s life was enriched with care, joy, and opportunities to flourish. Despite the obstacles she faced, Jennifer’s determination knew no bounds.

Jennifer was a graduate of Dunbar High School. After high school her indomitable spirit shone through as she embraced her job at the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop.

Her compassion and radiant smile were her trademarks. Jennifer’s heart was filled with love for her family, and her kindness extended to those less fortunate. During her treatments at Teramana Cancer Center, she ingeniously adorned herself with her birthday crown to bring smiles to fellow patients, a true testament to her radiant spirit and her innate ability to brighten their days.

Around a decade ago, Jennifer felt the call to make a difference beyond herself. Alongside her devoted cousin, Joe Sikora, she embarked on a journey to collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Morgantown, WV. This act of kindness and her determination inspired many, leading to the collection of hundreds of pounds of pop tabs that would benefit families in need.

Jennifer’s love for learning led her to the Mary H. Weir Public Library. Her trips to Panera’s were cherished moments of delight.
She was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Christian Mothers.

Jennifer was greeted in heaven by her grandparents and her aunt, Virginia “Gina” Bortz.

She will be remembered with love by her parents, Mike and Olivia Oklok, her brother Brian and his wife Melinda, along with their children, Aly and Grayton Oklok. She is also remembered with love by her aunts, Joan Barron, (Garrett), Sandy Gevenosky, Kimmy Choi, (Charles) and Uncle Errol Bortz, (Barbara) along with many loving cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 PM to 8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11.

V. Rev. Fr. Dennis R. Schuelkens Jr., V.E. will preside.

She will be laid to rest at Saint Paul’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
