Joanne C. Gorrell, 85, of Weirton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Weirton Medical Center. Born July 28, 1931 in Steubenville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Baehler) Carr. She was also preceded in death by her husband Fred C. Gorrell and brother Charles Carr Jr.
Joanne was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of Eastern Star. She also belonged to several bridge clubs in the area and enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and at the School of Bright Promise.
She is survived by her sons Keith (Donna) Gorrell of Yukon, OK and Kurt (Cathy) Gorrell of Spring, TX; daughters Kim (Thomas) Goodrich of Massillon, OH, Karen (Tim) Cunningham of Chester and Kathy (Tony) Hardy of Weirton; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Weirton. Reverend Michael L. Heckathorn will officiate.
Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.

To Joanne’s Family: We are sad to hear of your mother’s passing. MANY memories were made during the years we attended Trinity Lutheran Church. She was always so pleasant, a joy to spend time with and you could see that she loved her church. The loss of a mother is one of the hardest things we must go through in life. Sorry to hear of your Mother’s death. I was born and raised in Weirton. Graduated from Weir High with your Father Fred. Your Mother and I were sorority sisters and roommates at Bethany Collage. She was a loving and kind friend!
