John Andrew Micklos

John Andrew Micklos, 90, of Weirton passed away on May 30, 2016, at the UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born on January 9, 1926, in Avella, PA, John was a son of the late John J. and Anna E. Solomon Micklos. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Albert Micklos, and two sisters, Ann Shipley and Irene Pataki.
A Navy veteran, John attended Northwestern University and was stationed in Corpus Christie TX during World War II. He retired from Weirton Steel after 35 Years of service, where he worked in the Coke Plant, the Blast Furnace, and was a fuel man in the fuel department in the Steel Works.
He met his wife while the two were both employed with Weirton Steel. They married on April 14, 1951. During their marriage they loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel all over the USA. They especially enjoyed wintering in Florida in their retirement years.
He was a member of the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, where he enjoyed being an usher at the Saturday 4 PM Mass, and also being a cross bearer for the Stations of the Cross. He was a member of AARP 3846, and was an avid member of Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate Nation.
John is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Anne O'Karma Micklos of Weirton, WV; his two daughters, Eileen and Dr. Frank Petrola of Steubenville, OH and Nancy and Dan Ranck of Cary, NC; his brother, Andrew J and Merrill Micklos of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Lindsey Campbell (Thomas) of Wake Forest , NC, Danny Ranck (Laura) of Apex NC, Chris Petrola (Jackie) of Chicago, IL, and Frank Petrola (Dr. Katie) of Chapel Hill, NC; three great grandchildren, Owen, Vittoria, and Olivia; and his niece, Barbara Shipley of Weirton, as well as several other nieces and nephews from out of town.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM on Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church.
Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston will preside.
Interment will follow at Saint Paul's Cemetery, Weirton, WV with military honors conducted by the US Navy and the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard.

Ann, Nancy and Eileen: I am so very sorry hear of your loss! I am definitely feeling your pain, but what a great life your husband/father provided for you. I just LOVED your dad. My Mom & Dad were also married 65 years (and five months) when he passed. That’s a lot of years and a lot of memories. We’ll keep you in our thoughts & prayers
