John C. "Beany" Pronchik
February 27, 1954 ~ May 17, 2021
John C. “Beany” Pronchik of Colliers, WV, a kind, down-to-earth family man passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, after a ten-month battle with stage four lung cancer. He was 67.
John was born to John and Patricia Ann Frashure Pronchik on February 27, 1954. He graduated from Brooke High School in 1973 and immediately started a 46-year career at Weirton Steel working in the Strip Steel.
On July 30, 1973, Beany married Susan K. Lengyel. In their 47 years of marriage, they were blessed with two children and two grandchildren.
Beany grew up on Halls Road in Colliers, and eventually built his family’s beautiful log home on their family’s property with his own two hands. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing, and riding his side by side and motorcycle with his family.
Beany, whose nickname came as a result of his years of playing baseball, will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, his selfless ways, always caring for his mother, being non-judgmental, and always having an open mind. A simple man, his family came first.
Beany was preceded in death by his father, John Pronchik, Jr.
He will be remembered with love and admiration by his wife Susan K. Pronchik; his son and grandson, John Michael Pronchik and John Andrew Pronchik; his daughter and granddaughter, Kristen Pronchik and Kaitlyn Kennen; his brothers and sisters in law who were like his brothers and sisters, Thomas (Cindy Will) Lengyel, Gary Lengyel, and Christine (Sam) Greco.
Beany’s family will have a private family visitation and funeral at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton.
Fr. Andrew Nelko will preside.
He will be laid to rest at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery in Weirton.
