John E. Connovich

John E. Connovich, 87, of Weirton, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at his home. He was born July 2, 1917 in Weirton, a son of the late Harry and Mary (Zuzulick) Connovich. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Harry Connovich and one sister, Olga Kowalick. John retired with 44 years of service from Standard Slag Company where he worked as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church and Three Score Senior Citizens Club. John is survived by his wife, Mary (Laburda) Connovich of Weirton, whom he married July 30, 1939; one son, John (Jay) Connovich; one daughter, Mary Jo Long and her husband Gerald, all of Weirton; two sisters, Ann Newman and Mary “ Connie” Kowalick, both of Weirton; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday with Pastor Don Clemons. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
