John J. Babinchak Sr.
September 26, 1921 ~ June 23, 2004
John J. Babinchak, Sr., 82, of Weirton, died peacefully Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born September 26, 1921 in Weirton, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Stasko Babinchak. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Emery and Anthony.
After 40 years of service, John retired from National Steel where he worked as a Heater in the Blooming Mill Department and was a lifetime member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and served as Usher for 32 years. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus 3734, Weirton Elks Lodge 1801, V.F.W. #2716, Weirton F.O.P.A., Weirton Steel 25-Year Club, A.A.R.P. and was a lifetime member of the Hancock County Sportsmen’s Club. John served his country in the Army during World War II.
John’s survivors include his wife Mary Hricik Babinchak of Weirton; sons John P. Babinchak and his wife Kathleen of Weirton, and David Michael Babinchak at home; daughter Darlene Babinchak Doerfler and her husband Michael of Pittsburgh; sisters Mary Bubrik and Helen Mankowski and her husband Joseph all of Weirton; grandsons, Edward Doerfler (Joann) of Pittsburgh, Pa and Blaise Babinchak (Jessica) of Weirton; granddaughters Monica Chiarenza (Carl) of Salt Lake City, Utah and Miss Danielle Doerfler of Pittsburgh, Pa; great-grandchildren Melody Ann Doerfler of Pittsburgh and Guy Chiarenza of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7:00PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Weirton.
