John J. Swartzmiller

John J. Swartzmiller, 78, of Weirton passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at home. He was born May 18, 1936 in Sistersville, WV a son of the late Paul and Pauline Markley Swartzmiller. He was also preceded in death by his wife Quintina Gonzalez Swartzmiller, two brothers Norman and Raymond Swartzmiller and a sister Kathryn Mahoney.
John retired after 30 years of service from Weirton Steel Corporation where he worked on the Wire Gang, was the former owner/operator of the Broadview Club for 26 years, was known by many as a "jack of all trades" and served his country in the US Air Force.
Mr. Swartzmiller is survived by a son Jeffrey Swartzmiller (Ronda) of Weirton and daughter Julie Neves (Victor) of Hicksville, NY; two grandchildren Cody Moore and Jordan Swartzmiller; four brothers Robert Swartzmiller (Shirley) of New Cumberland, WV, Carl, Joseph and Herbie Swartzmiller all of Sistersville, WV; four sisters Jean Gumm (Robert) of Weirton, Ruth Belvin (Daryl) of Akron, OH, Betty Lou Cowgill (Abe) of Friendly, WV and Maxine Grimm (Herb) of Crossville, TN.
In accordance with John's wishes funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family.
To my dear uncle. My heart is heavy knowing that you are gone. It won’t be the same driving past your house on my way home from work and seeing you out working in the yard. Thank you for being there for me when I lost my beloved father. To my COUSINS Julie and Jeff my deepest condolences to you. God has gained another angel. Till we meet again. Jeff & Family ~ I was so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I know the pain you are feeling and it is a loss that cannot be weighed. You have a lot of friends and we are all praying for you at this time. May God heal your heart and remind you that your dad is with him in paradise, where nothing can be more beautiful, than to be with our Lord. Many prayers and blessing to you during this time.
Your dad & my farther were best friends. You probably were too small to remember. I will miss you dad on my daily walks, such a sweet man!
