John J. Virant, Sr.

John J. Virant, Sr., 88, of Weirton, died, April 23, in Cadiz, OH. He was born May 29, 1912 in Imperial, PA, son of the late John and Mary (Mrvlje) Virant. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rita R. Kuglmaler Virant on August 5, 1998, one brother Frank Virant, and a sister Mary Guzel. John retired from Weirton Steel with 42 years service as a millwright in Number 5 tandem. He was a member of S.N.P.J. Lodge # 106. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Estelle Virant, Jr. of Weirton, three daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Marlene C.) Miller of Steubenville, OH; Mrs. William (Dorothy Jean) Terry of Danville, VA, Mrs. George (Rosalie) Moldovan of Carlsbad, CA; ten grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren Visitation will be 7-9 pm Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home officiated by Fr. Jack McCoy.
