John L. Browning

John L. Browning, 80, of Weirton, formerly of Steubenville, OH, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at Trinity West, Steubenville. He was born November 3, 1921, in Harmarville, PA, a son of the late Alexander Walker Browning and Henrietta Lang Browning. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alexander Browning, Jr. and James Browning; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Gerard.
John retired in 1982 from National Steel where he worked as a plater operator for 35 years at the Steubenville Plant. For 15 years before his retirement, John was a committee man for the I.S.U. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving three years in the South Pacific in the 82nd Field Hospital.
John is survived by his wife, Arline M. (Jennessee) Browning of Weirton, whom he married February 11, 1950; one son, John S. Browning of Tuscon, Arizona; two daughters, Brenda Vojvodich and her husband Robert of Weirton, and Lori Tubero and her husband James of Hudson, OH; two sisters, Jamesetta Edwards of Steubenville, OH, and Ada Adams and her husband George of New Philadelphia, OH; and three grandchildren, Jessi and Kylie Tubero of Hudson, OH, and Beth Anne Vojvodich of Weirton.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, where military services will be conducted by the V.F.W.#2716, American Legion Post 10, and the Tri-State Marine Corps.
