John Musick
June 3, 1912 ~ May 12, 2006
John Musick, Jr., 93, of Weirton, died Friday May 12, 2006 at the Valley Hospice Palliative Care in Steubenville, OH.
He was born on June 3, 1912 in Sabarton, WV, the son of the late John and Mary Zavatian Musick, Sr. John was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Maczko Musick in August, 2003, brothers, sisters and grandson John Michael Musick.
He retired from the Weirton Steel Blast Furnace, where he was a skip car operator for over 30 years. John was a member of Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church and the WSX 25-Year Club.
He is survived by his son Robert Musick of Weirton; brother, George Musick of Morgantown, WV; granddaughter, Mrs. Jack (Jennifer) Reynolds of New Cumberland, WV and great granddaughter, Lyndsay Reynolds.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where a Parastas Service will be held at 8PM.
Blessing service will be held Tuesday morning at 8:45 in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 9:15AM Tuesday at the Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Weirton. Reverend Father Ed Lucas will officiate.
Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Just a small memory, but one that has stayed with me of Mr Musick. About 37 years ago, when I was staying with my sister and her husband, Bob Musick, and had just been hired as temporary help at Weirton Steel, John learned that I would be in the same locker room as him. He made a point to meet me as I was coming on my shift to give me a “board” to stand on when I dressed. It was apparent why this was needed unless you wanted to ruin your street clothes from the soot that was everywhere. It may seem a small thing, but my experience with him and Bob showed them to be good and certainly generous people.
