John Robert Ramser

John Robert Ramser, Sr., 76, of Weirton died Sunday March 7, 2010. He was born on October 17, 1933 in Marshall County, WV a, son of the late Louis and Rhoda Ellen Harold Ramser. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Lynne Norman and three sisters, Grace Johnson, Dolly Shelhammer and Anna Hunt. A graduate of Moundsville High School, John formerly owned and operated the Strand Theatre in Moundsville, WV where he got his start in the film industry. He is currently the owner of the Plaza Theatre in Weirton and the Glen Dale Drive In. He also worked with the Capitol Theatre and the Jamboree in the Hills. He was the past president of the International Allied Theatrical Stage Employees Local 64. John is survived by his fiance of 35 years, Donna Risbin of Weirton; two daughters, Donna Sue (Joseph) Gates of Killeen TX and Ellen Marie (David) Brown of Moundsville, WV; a son, John Robert Ramser, Jr. of Warwood, WV; a step daughter, Georgianna (Terry)Champ of Weirton, WV; two sisters, Barbara Woods of Moundsville, WV and Libby (Donald) Bowman of Bellaire, OH; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Saturday. Interment will follow at the Highland Hill Memorial Gardens.
