John W. Jezerski, Jr. of Weirton passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He was 88 years old.
John was born in Weirton, WV, on April 2, 1932, to John W. and Josephine Mayfield Jezerski, Sr. Dr. A.B. Rinehart, his future wife's grandfather, delivered him.
John grew up in Weirton and graduated from Weir High School in 1950. He served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.
On February 12, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Esten Rinehart. In their 66 years of marriage, they were blessed with two daughters, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way.
John retired as an electrician from Weirton Steel in 1983. After he retired from Weirton Steel, he moved to Burlington, KS, to work for the Wolfcreek Nuclear Power Plant before moving back to his home on Marland Heights to work for the Nuclear Power Plant in Shippingport, PA.
For relaxation, John enjoyed watching sports on the television, especially the Pirates and the Steelers. He was known to his family and neighbors as "Mr. Fix It". If John could not fix it, it was not broken.
He and his wife nourished their faith for over fifty years at the Cove Presbyterian Church, where John was an Elder. In recent years they attended the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church.
John was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Most of all, John will be remembered as a polite gentleman, the epitome of class. He was an easy-going man with a great sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Jezerski; and his sister, Martha Frye.

We, Howard, Anthony and Karl Hatala, grew up next door to Johnny and Esten. What great neighbors they were and considered them wonderful Christian friends and extended family for many years after our parents moved away. Have fond memories of yard parties we had with them and their other neighbors the Barkers. This is another passing of one of the Greatest Generation. Our sincerest condolences to Esten and the rest of the family.
My deepest sympathy for Esten and the extended Jezerski family on John’s passing. What a wonderful man!!
