Joseph A. Ciancetta

Joseph A. Ciancetta, of Weirton, WV, died Monday August 19, 2002 at the Weirton Medical Center.
He was born on December 25 in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late Carlo and Aida D’Anniballe Ciancetta. He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Frances Deleonardis Ciancetta; his three brothers, Carlo, Valerio and August Ciancetta.
Joseph retired as a feeder in the Tin Mill of Weirton Steel, after 44 years of service. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church; a charter member of the Knights of Columbus D.P. Murphy Council 3734; Theta Chi Alpha Fraternity, where he was named “Man of the Year” in 2001; Antonio Meucci Lodge 2506, where he was the recipient of the “member of the year” in 1988 and 1992; Weirton Steel 25 year Club; Weirton Radio Watch, Inc.; First President of the Weirton Madonna High School Boosters Club; Past President of Saint Paul Grade School Boosters Club, where he was instrumental in the organization of the club and the school’s first football team; a past volunteer fireman; Hancock County Sportsman Club and the Steubenville Beagle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Regin Ciancetta, whom he married on November 28, 1939; his son and daughter in law, Joseph R. and Betty J. Ciancetta of Weirton, WV; his daughter and son in law, Elaine J. and Dr. Anthony Scurti of Steubenville, OH; his brother, Victor Ciancetta of Steubenville, OH; his sisters, Irene Le Clear of Fort Wayne, IN and Mrs. Frank (Gloria) Tluchowski of Steubenville, OH; his sister in laws, Pauline and Mary Ciancetta both of Steubenville, OH; his four granddaughters, two grandsons and one great grandson.
Visitation will be 7-9 PM Wednesday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.
Rev. Fr. Stephen Dube will preside.
Entombment will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Steubenville.
