joseph sanfilippo
Joseph Sanfilippo, 76, of Weirton, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2016. Born on October 20, 1939, in Mingo Jct., OH, he was a son of the late Rosario and Jenny Tarvella Sanfilippo. He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Mary Sanfilippo; his brother Pete Scaffidi; and sister, Henrietta Simmons. Joseph retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a roll grinder, in the Tin Mill. He graduated from Weir High School and furthered his education earning an associate's degree at Jeff Tech. He was a man of strong faith, and a member of Victory Life Worship Center, Paris, PA. He also proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Mr. Sanfilippo is survived by his wife Carleen Boyd Sanfilippo of Weirton, whom he married on April 24, 1964; daughter Carla (Paul) Rohal of Hilton Head Island, SC; brother, Russ (Patti) Sanfilippo of Palm Coast, FL; sister Marie (Reuben) Dodson of Weirton; granddaughter, Carter Alexis Rohal; and 31 nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 10 until the 11am funeral service at the Victory Life Worship Center, Paris, PA, with Pastor Jason Romine officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA with military honors being conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
