Josephine Alesa Scott went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 8, 2024, joining her beloved husband, Donald Lee Scott.
She was born in Power, West Virginia on May 19, 1934, to Lester Merl and Laura Rose (Noller) Beagle, Josie spent her life in dedication to her family, faith, and community.
Josie married her soul mate, Don on July 14, 1952, at Sampson Air Force Base in New York, before his deployment during the Korean War.
She was a Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church member for over fifty years and loved singing as part of the choir, serving as a Sunday School teacher, and taking part in the Pairs and Spares class.
For over twenty years, Josie was a welcoming face at the Weirton Wal-Mart as a greeter, cashier, and associate. She loved seeing the faces of her community, greeting them with a smile.
She even took part in the store’s holiday celebrations as the Easter Bunny for numerous years.
Josie used her artistic talents to create drawings of her children and to compose poems. Much of her writing was published through her church and in the local newspaper. In 1986, she shared her writing in the Weirton Daily Times in remembrance of the souls lost in the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster called, “To Win, You Must Try.”
In addition to her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald Lee Scott who sadly passed away on November 7, 2000, and her sister, Mabel Rose (Beagle) Carey in 2021.

I met Josie when I was probably 3-4 years old eating lunch at the old Walmart with my mom. I overheard her on her lunch break saying she wished she ordered fries so I turned to the booth behind me and gave her some of mine. From then on every time I saw her she would give me the biggest hug and we would laugh about how we met. She would always tell me about her grandchildren that she adored. She was such a kind & sweet lady!!
Prayers to her family 🙏🏼
she was a very wonderful lady. love and prayers to her family
I met Josie in 2018 when I when I began seeing her son, Lance. She was at Wyngate. We immediately became friends, and I visited her quite often. She always wanted to adopt me. I told her she already had. I took her to Oglebay often. She loved it, and I have great memories from there, and a couple scary ones. We spent many hours eating out. Her favorite place was Sweet Temptations. This sweet loving woman put so much love in my life and taught me patience. I will miss my angel so much, but she is now at peace. 🙏❤️
My deepest sympathy to her family
My deepest sympathy to her family. We grew up as neighbors and she was the sweetest, kindest woman. She always had a smile for everyone. May she rest in the arms of Jesus
