Julia Bell Lancaster, 89, of Weirton, WV passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Julia was born in Weirton, WV on December 23, 1933, the fourth of six children born to Ossman Mehamet and Daisy Nutter Mallas.

At the age of 16, Julia married Hartzell Lancaster. In their 54 years of marriage, they were blessed with three daughters, a son, seven grandchildren, and eventually two great grandchildren.

A special lady, Julia had a heart of gold. Her family meant the world to her. When she was able, she attended all her grandchildren’s activities. She loved to feed anyone who walked through her front door.

Julia retired as a cashier from G.C. Murphy’s in Weirton.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband, Hartzell O. Lancaster on July 22, 2003; her five siblings, Mustafa “Mickey”, Mehamet “Mike”, and James Mallas, Naomi Cole, and Evelyn Burge; her grandchildren, Douglas K. Beynon, Jr., and Lauri Beynon; and her sons in law, Douglas K. Beynon, Sr., and David Ivill.

She will be remembered with love and admiration by her son, Hartzell “John” Lancaster (Gloria); and daughters, Julia “Diane” Beynon; Cheryl Ivill, and Carmella Mae Lancaster; her grandchildren, David Scott Ivill, James Ivill, Ashleigh Gurskey (Aaron), Amber Fischer (Jacob), and Angel Lancaster; her great grandchildren, Jordin and Jaxson Gurskey.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 PM until time of funeral services at 3 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.

Rev. Tom Derby will preside.

Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

  2. I remember Julie being an angel to us when I was young in the 50’s and 60’s and visited the Lancasters . She always called my mom Aunt Helen and treated us like family. I remember her helping us and feeding us her delicious cooking. God bless your family as you say good bye to her
