Julia Vera Egyed was born to the late John and Elizabeth Horvith Fendick on August 3, 1901 in Apagy, Hungary. In addition to her parents, her brothers and sisters, John Bero, Pete Pallinkis, Mary Gulyban and Elizabeth Patrick have preceded her in death. On July 15, 1922, Julia married the late Sander Egyed. Together they raised one son and six daughters. Two of her daughters, Elizabeth Samaras and Margaret Deuley and two grandchildren, Thomas and Robert Samaras have also preceded her. After more than 20 years of service, Julia retired from JoAnn’s Bakery in Steubenville where she worked as a pastry filler. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton and the Hungarian Club in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Julia passed away on Wednesday, August 06, 2003, three days following her 102nd birthday. She is survived by her son Alex Eggett and his wife Margaret of Weirton; daughters, Julia Chomor of Steubenville, Ann Vasilakis and her husband Tom of San Bernadino, CA, Rose Homono of Follansbee and Irene Terpenning and her husband John of Bloomingdale, OH. Julia also leaves 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00AM.
