Karen Lynn Keenan, 72, of Colliers, WV, peacefully passed away in the early hours of Sunday, November 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her son Theo’s residence. Born on September 7, 1951, in Alliance, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of Leroy and Clara Binius McGrath. Karen was a proud 1970 graduate of West Branch High School in Beloit, and on July 25, 1971, she married her soulmate, Larry Keenan, beginning a lifelong journey of love, faith, and devotion.

A woman of unwavering faith, Karen’s spirituality was central to her life, guiding her actions and bringing comfort and strength to those around her. Her family fondly remembers her as the embodiment of a true Christian, someone whose commitment to her beliefs was unwavering. She spent countless hours at church, worshiping and sharing in fellowship, and was deeply devoted to Gospel music, finding peace and inspiration in its melodies.

Karen was a beloved grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren.  She taught them never let a single person in your life go hungry or without, always do what you can for people never expecting anything in return. She chose to forgo treatment in her final days to make the most of her precious time with them, creating lasting memories filled with love.

Her dedication to her family and friends was profound, always willing to lend a hand and known for her reliability and selflessness. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity, often sharing her famous apple pies and crafting quilts for newborns at her church, “The Voice of Pentecost” in Weirton.

Beyond her family and church, Karen had a lasting impact on her community through her role as an educator. She taught at the Weirton Christian Academy from 1982 to 1998, and as a Sunday School teacher for most of her life, instilling values and knowledge in countless young minds. Her life was a testament to faith, service, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Keenan on September 15, 2015, brothers William and Daryl McGrath, and sisters Bonna McGrath, Marilyn Funkhouser, and Joyce Keiser.

  6. My precious Aunt Karen, I love you so much! I have so many wonderful memories of you. You were my other momma. I think that I spent as much time at your house as I did my own. You loved me like I was one of your own kids. I am so blessed that God allowed me to have such a wonderful Aunt. You have no idea how much you meant to me. When I think of someone who was truly genuine and an example of what a Godly should be, you are it. I am so glad that I got to spend time with you and just hold your hand a few hours before you went to be with Jesus, just to tell you how much I love you. I am heartbroken thay you’re gone and I will miss you forever. All I can say now is… you know!!!

  7. Candle Selection 8Karen, you were the kindest, sweetest, most caring and giving person I have ever known. Also the best sister a person could have. You will be missed by everyone who knew you.
