
Karol L. Skidmore
October 8, 1941 ~ December 27, 2008
Karol L. Skidmore, 67, of Weirton, passed away December 27, 2008, at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born October 8, 1941, in Steubenville, OH, the daughter of the late William and Edna Fetty Orth. Her daughter Karen Skidmore also preceded her in death.
Karol worked 12 years for National Steel Corp. as an upper management secretary. She was a member of the Salvation Army and volunteered countless hours to the Home League of the Church.
She is survived by her husband Carl D. Skidmore of Weirton; daughter Carla Skidmore of Weirton; grandson, Alex Skidmore; brother William Orth and his wife Christine of Marietta, GA; brothers and sister in law, Bob Skidmore and his wife Joyce, Dana Skidmore and his wife Marge, Ron Brady and his wife Patty, all of Weirton, and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2008, from 2-4 and 6-8PM, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, where services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 11:00AM with Captain Ed Long officiating.
Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, WV.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, 794 Cove Road, Weirton, WV 26062.
Carl,Carla, and Alex, I am so sorry for your loss. Karol was like a 2nd mom to me when I was growing up. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Skidmore Family I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Karol, your loved one and a dear friend. Through all the years I have known her, she was the most friendliest or happiest person I had ever known. Dear Skidmore family, Our sincerest condolences for your loss. Our Mother, Sandra, loved Karol as a dear friend. At our mother’s funeral just days ago, Karol kindly shared with me some wonderful memories she and Mom had over the years growing up. I’ll cherish those always. Karl, Carla, Alex, Joyce and Bob. Karol will be missed by everyone who knew her. We will always remember her humor and how she made us laugh. I think she thought her mission in life was to make everyone feel better no matter what they were facing and we are sure that she continues to do so.
