Kathryn Matask, 85, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2006, at the Weirton Medical Center. Born April 23, 1920 in Masury, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Pete and Anna Capan Porec. Kathryn was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Matask. With 11 years of service, she retired from Hancock County Schools where she worked as a secretary for Weir High School. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, The Turtle Club and the Weirton Elks Auxiliary. Kathryn’s survivors include her sons Tom Matask and his wife Diana of Wellsburg, WV and Mark Matask and his wife Cathy of Eden Prairie, MN; brothers Pete Porec of Reno, NV, John Porec and Louis Yakunich; sisters Margaret Robinson and Mildred Danford all of Weirton; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00AM, at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be at St. Paul Cemetery.   3. Kathryn always had a hug for me and my family. Although I am saddened by her passing, I rejoice in her life. A good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge. Kathryn led the good life and now walks hand and hand with Andrew amongst Angels.
