March 31, 1928 ~ September 2, 2014
Kenneth Adam Gabbie, 86, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday September 2, 2014 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born March 31, 1928 in Weirton, he was a son of the late Camie and Erida Gabbie. He was also preceded in death by his infant brother Norman Gabbie.
A former employee of the Weirton Steel Engineering Department, Mr. Gabbie retired as a professional building designer.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, VFW Post 2716, American Legion Post 10, Knights of Columbus 3734 and the American Institute of Building Design. He was a life member of the Weirton Salvation Army Advisory Board.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Helen Rose Donovitch Gabbie; sons Thomas K. Gabbie and Daniel P. Gabbie; daughters Lisa A Gabbie all of Weirton, Tina M. (Keith) Engleka of Pittsburgh, PA and Patricia N. (Ramar) Russell of Orlando, FL and grandchildren Andrew and Adam Engleka and Kalib and Townsend Russell.
Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12pm Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Larry Dorsch officiating. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weirton Salvation Army, P. O. Box 2499, Weirton, WV 26062.
