Kristopher Michael “Dank” Dankovchik, 23, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005 in Hurricane, WV. Born January 17, 1982 in Weirton, he was the son of Robert “Dank” and Pam Bozic Dankovchik of Weirton. Dank graduated from Weir High School in 2000 and West Virginia Junior College in Morgantown, WV in 2003. During his high school years, Dank played basketball and baseball in the city leagues. He was an avid WVU and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister Lauren Nicole Dankovchik of Weirton; maternal grandparents Joseph and Patricia Bozic of Midway, PA; paternal grandparents Bob and Frances Dankovchik of Weirton; Uncle Dan and Aunt Laurie Dankovchik of Weirton; Uncle Mark and Aunt Dawn Christy of Pittsburgh; a very special Aunt Janet Bozic of McDonald, PA and cousins Alexis and Lucas Dankovchik of Weirton and Cole and Ava Christy of Pittsburgh, PA. The family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10AM Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be in St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum, Weirton. Memorial donations in memory of Kristopher may be made to the donors choice. Share tributes with his family at www.grecohertnick.com. Because of his close ties to my cousin, he always felt like a part of my family. I suppose it is those little memories that will always keep him with all of us.   14. To Kris’ Family: I was a senior at Weir when Kris was a freshman. We had a couple classes together. I thought he was a cool, down-to-earth kid who always had something clever to say.   17. Dear Pam,Bob,and Lauren, I haven’t seen Kristopher in many years. I can say one thing, I remember one of my first jobs as a teacher’s aide was at Broadview Elem. I remember Kristopher’s face like yesterday. I said that little boy is so handsome, and I would tease him all the time about it. He would give me the biggest smile in the world.   29. I met Kris while he was here in Charleston. He was one of the sweetest caring men that i have met in a long time.   38. Hi Pam, I am very sorry to hear about your son. I just happened to see it in the paper. Please give your family and your mom and dad my deepest sympathy. Please let me know if you want to get together sometime just to talk. As you know, I went through the same thing 12 years ago. Melissa was 8 years old and to this day it feels like yesterday to me. It did help me a little to talk to someone else that had lost a child too. It’s just totally different than losing your grandparents or parents.
