Kurt James Lyons of Colliers, WV, passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was seventy-two years old.
Born in Steubenville, OH, on July 8, 1952, he was the son of the late James Lewis Lyons and Noradell Anderson Lyons.
A graduate of Weir High School, Class of 1970, Kurt went on to dedicate 32 years of service to Weirton Steel, where he worked as a mechanic.
From April 1971 to December 1976, Kurt served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
An avid car enthusiast, Kurt shared his passion for classic cars with his fellow “Road Kings”. He enjoyed traveling to car shows with his fellow Kings, enjoying camaraderie and the beauty of vintage automobiles.
Kurt was a man of faith, a man with a big heart, and a man whose unselfish nature touched the lives of everyone around him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and he always put their needs above his own. Whether with his family or friends, Kurt’s smile could light up any room, and his joyful spirit was contagious.
Remembering Kurt with love is his wife Karen Monseau Lyons of forty-six years whom he married on October 8, 1977, sons Jacob (Erica) Lyons of Moon Township, Joshua Lyons of Steubenville, and Zachary Lyons of Weirton, grandchildren Joshua of Floresville, TX., Taylor of Weirton, and Nolan and Amelia of Moon Township, and sister Lynn (Bill) Livingston of Weirton.
Kurt’s request for cremation will be honored.
He will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
Services will be planned at the convenience of the family.

Kurt was such a kind man and really cared about the children and staff at Weirton Heights. I really enjoyed working with him. The family will be in my prayers.
My condolences and deepest sympathy to Kurt’s family. I am shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. We went from grade school thru high school graduation together. He lived “around the hill” when we were growing up. I never knew a nicer man. May he Rest In Peace.

Kurt had the greatest smile ever and a kind greeting whenever he saw you. I walked to school with him my first day at Liberty School and I’ll never forget it. We shared talking about hot rods and we’re neighbors for a while on Pine Wood Dr. I will truly miss you buddy Rest in peace my friend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 memory eternal
