laura hileman
Laura Faye Hileman of Weirton passed away at her residence on North 10th Street under the diligent care of Valley Hospice, on Sunday, October 31, 2021, she was 87 years old. She was born in Steubenville, OH., on March 17, 1934, the daughter of the late Fenton Robert and Bernice Neeley Gordon. Laura nourished her faith at the Community of Christ Church in Follansbee. In addition, Laura enjoyed her role as a homemaker and was employed by the Hancock County School System as a bus driver. Laura would say, and most of her neighbors would agree that she was the “official” mayor of North 10th Street, her term will not ever expire. She was very outgoing, holding meetings at her residence and serving the best-iced tea in Weirton. Laura would not put up with any shenanigans of any kind, especially during the ever-popular front porch card games. Her daughters both agreed that she was their #1 fan. Laura enjoyed being at home, taking care of her family in every way, but most of all, she enjoyed cooking for them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Hileman, whom she married on January 15, 1951, and passed away on April 29, 2005; additionally, she was preceded in death by her son Michael Hileman who passed on April 12, 2015, and brother, Robert Gordon. Remembering Laura fondly are her children, Brad (Paulette) Hileman of Florida, Brian (Mary) Hileman of Weirton, Barbara Merenda, and Betty (Ivan) Diaz, all of Weirton, grandchildren, Bradley, Ryan, Autumn, Stefanie, Joey, Kvanna, Nicholas, Thomas, and Hope, great-grandchildren, Lilly and Lucas, nephew, Brent J. Gordon and his wife Francine, and great-nephew and great-niece, BJ and Natalie. Private visitation and burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Laura’s name to the Community Bread Basket, 3501 West Street, Weirton, WV, 26062.
