May 20, 1926 ~ July 10, 2021
Lillian B. (Barnabei) Ruszkowski, 95, of Weirton, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from the complications of a stroke on February 26, 2021.
In Dennison, OH, Lillian was born on May 20, 1926, the seventh of eight children born to Dominic and Anna DiBernardo Barnabei.
When Lillian was a young girl, her family moved to Weirton. She attended Weirton Schools and graduated from Weir High School in 1944.
Lil retired from Weirton Steel after 18 years, where she started in housekeeping and finished her career as a clerk in the Machine Shop.
She was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church and the Greater Weirton Senior Center.
Lil was an avid reader and enjoyed making arts and crafts.
Most of all, Lil will be remembered for her lifelong fun-loving spirit. Family weddings will not be the same with her not on the dance floor.
In addition to her parents, Lil was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Drake, on November 16, 2004; her son in law, William Hamel; her four brothers, Albert, Fred, Chester, and Anthony "Tony" Barnabei; and her three sisters, Annie Pate, and Emma, and Mary Barnabei.
She will be remembered with love by her daughter, Lillian Hamel; her son in law, Jerry Drake, and her grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Poland, Jessica Haddix, Jerry Drake, II, and Justin Drake; her great-grandchildren, Kyle (Katie) Poland, Kiersten Poland, Harleigh, Hunter and Harper Haddix; her great-great-granddaughter, Riley Rose Poland.
Visitation will be Tuesday 3 PM until 7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church.
Fr. Tony Thurston will preside.
Entombment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum.
Li's family would like to thank the Valley Hospice and Weirton Geriatric Center, especially the new 3rd floor Enchanted Gardens staff, for all the love and care they provided to Lil in the last few months.

I will always remember her smile and how funny she was. I remember being a little shy when I was younger and having such a warm, welcoming feeling around her (and that never changed). I can only hope to one day be remembered in such a positive light. Love you Aunt Lil, -Dana
