Linda K. Jones,82, of Weirton, WV passed away in her sleep on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Linda was born on October 21, 1940, in Toronto, OH, one of three children born to Willard and Dorothy Pickell Davis.

She graduated from Steubenville Central High School in 1958. On May 2, 1964, she married George J. Jones, Jr. In their 59 years of marriage, they were blessed with a daughter, two sons, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She began her professional journey as a proofreader for the Steubenville Herald Star and later served as a secretary at the Chancery Office for the Diocese of Steubenville. However, it was her thirty years of service as a beloved babysitter for Weirton Area families that truly exemplified her nurturing nature.

Linda was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, where she participated in the Christian Mothers and the Prayer Shawl group. Her strong faith was a guiding force throughout her life.

In her free time, she enjoyed watching the Pirates, Steelers, and Notre Dame Football but nothing compared to her love watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Germany and camping with her family when the kids were young.
Linda will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and her dogs, Hines, Willie Parker, and Mr. Rooney.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brothers, David Davis, and William “Mick” Davis.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her husband, George, her daughter, Marybeth Jones, her sons, Steven Jones and Christopher (Sherree’) Jones; her grandchildren, Samantha (Pat) Maack, Jacob (Jordan) Jones, Makenzie Jones, and Gabrielle Jones; her four great grandchildren, Sasha, Gerard and Leo Maack and Arthur Jones; her cousins who were close as sisters, Mary Kay (Sam) Conner and Barbara (Ralph, Jr.) Carapelotti.

  4. I don’t have enough words to describe Linda. She started taking car of my son when he was a baby. Daniel couldn’t say her name, so called her Nina. Marybeth was Mebeff. He could say George. Linda took him to the boy’s wrestling matches and football games. George made hurtles so Daniel could “practice”. Chris would drive him around because girls can’t resist a cute baby. He was the ring bearer when Chris and Sheree got married. I named my youngest son after the boys, Steven Christopher. Linda and her family are my family. She touched so many lives. I love you Linda.

She was unselfish and really helped me out with too many things to count, in our time at Madonna. May God grant her soul rest, and comfort for all of you.
