lorraine soplinski

Lorraine Ann Soplinski, 88, of Burgettstown, Pa, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at WVU Medicine–Weirton Medical Center.
Born on February 6, 1938, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Budney Glazier. She was a 1956 graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School and devoted her life to her family, and serving others with a generous heart.

On August 3, 1957, she married the love of her life, Vincent Stanley Soplinski. Together they shared a marriage built on love, faith, and countless adventures. While Vincent dedicated his career to Weirton Steel, Lorraine lovingly cared for their home and family. Together they were blessed with four children, who later blessed them with three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She and Vincent shared a passion for travel, exploring 49 of the 50 states in their motor home. They also cherished Sunday afternoons spent polka dancing at Idora Park in Youngstown and created treasured family memories by taking their children and grandchildren on vacations to Walt Disney World.

An accomplished homemaker, Lorraine expressed her love through her kitchen. She delighted in baking cookies, creating birthday cakes for each of her children and grandchildren, and preserving the bounty of her garden by canning vegetables. She was also remarkably creative, using her talents to handcraft the beautiful decorations for her daughter’s wedding.

Community involvement was another hallmark of Lorraine’s life. When Vincent served as President of the Burgettstown Football Boosters, Lorraine was always the first to arrive to prepare meals and the last to leave after everything was finished. She also served as Past President of the PTA Hanover Grade School organization and was the editor of the Bounders United Newsletter, where she chronicled the adventures she and Vincent enjoyed while attending local and national rallies.

Lorraine was a parishioner of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Stanley Soplinski on April 8th, 2024, and her daughter, Michelle Soplinski, who passed away on September 12, 2025.

She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories to be treasured by her children, Vincent Soplinski, Richard (Patricia) Soplinski, and Veronica (Michael) Skinner; her three grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Skinner, Aaron (Nicholas) Skinner and Bailey (Srishti) Soplinski; her great-grandchild Jordan Skinner.

Rev. Fr. John Soplinski will preside.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
