
Lydia Angelo
January 9, 1926 ~ April 18, 2015
Lydia (Riggi) Angelo of Weirton went peacefully into Our Lords hands on April 18, 2015 at Weirton Geriatric Center.
She was born in Vicalvi, Italy, on January 9, 1926. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony (Tony) Angelo in 2007, her father Vito Riggi and her mother Chlorinda Riggi. Also by her brother Etalo Riggi and sister Mary Zagaroli both of Rome, Italy and step-sister Olivia Sterns.
Nono, as most called her, loved to cook huge homemade Italian meals for all of her family, she also enjoyed playing cards and shopping. She was a cook for the GDC Club in Weirton and afterwards became the first cook for Mario's Restaurant in Weirton. A hard working woman who gave her all. She loved life and her family always came first. She was fun loving, a very generous, kind and good hearted woman to everyone who knew her. Her house was your house.
Lydia is survived by her daughter, Toni Ann (Robert) Permar and son Carmen "Nooch" (Kim) Angelo, all of Weirton, grandchildren Lindsay (Amir) Syed of Staten Island New York, Ashleigh (Eric) Kaufmann of Weirton, Chelsey Permar of Kent, Ohio, Ryan Angelo of Weirton and Robert "Robbie" (Ashley) Permar of Follansbee W.V., great-grandchildren Mea and Ella Kaufmann of Weirton, Camryn and Liana Permar of Follansbee, WV., Selina and Adam Syed of Staten Island, New York and another grandson on the way, step-sisters Viola Gvyoich and Anita Tennant and step-brother Vito "Junior" Riggi.
Lydia spent the last few years of her life at the Weirton Geriatric Center. There she met her second family, who loved and cared for her as one of their own. Many thanks to them for their love and support. Also to her longtime physician Dr. Gary Hanson, and Valley Hospice.
Visitation will be from 10AM until the time of Funeral Services at 12 noon on Monday, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
Entombment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery, Weirton, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, 140 Walnut St., Weirton, WV 26062 or to the Weirton Geriatric Patient Care Fund, 2525 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, WV 26062

Toni Ann,Carmen, and families. I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Lydia passing. I’ll never forget how much fun it was to go to your house. Your mom made everything fun and special. She truly was a great person and I loved her very much. God be with you.
