Mabel Irene Kelchak

Mabel Irene Kelchak, 83, of Weirton, died Sunday, December 1, 2002 at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born October 28, 1919 in Wayne Township, Monroe County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Loman and Lucinda Walters Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Kelchak on January 31, 1992; daughter Wyoma Michelle Kelchak on October 24, 1948 and sister, Mary Colgrove. Mabel was a homemaker and, during the war, worked at Weirton Steel. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #2716. When Micheline was in school, she was very active in the Weirton Heights PTA. Mabel loved to read and was a very good baker. In her later years, she became a sports fan following the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers. Mabel is survived by a daughter, Micheline Smith and her husband Ron of Mount Holly, NJ; nephew Forrest Miller of Weirton; niece Renee Madole of New Jersey; brother Otha Watson of Weirton; grandchildren, Ron and Michelle Smith and one great grandson, Davis Michael Smith. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton where funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday with Pastor Marvin Taylor officiating.
