Margaret T. "Peggy" Sweeney
October 3, 1928 ~ May 13, 2021
Margaret “Peggy” Theresa Sweeney,92. of Weirton passed away on May 13, 2021, after a brief stay at the Wyngate Senior Living Community. She was sharp as a tack to the very end.
Margaret was born on October 3, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA, the middle child of Joseph and Margaret Ruffing Bendot.
Even though Peggy enjoyed her time as a bookkeeper at Gilbert Iron and Metal, most of her life was spent as a homemaker. Her husband, Raymond worked as a foreman for Weirton Steel, and together they raised a son, Patrick.
Ray passed away in 1997 and Patrick passed in 2020.
Peggy was very crafty and enjoyed making arts and crafts. She also had an eye for antiques. All who knew her will remember her for her “Peggy -isms” that were straight to the point. She did not hesitate to say what she was thinking.
Peggy was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Three Score, WMC Auxiliary, and the Weirton Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Peggy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Raedean Sweeney, and her brother, Joseph Bendot.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Anne Miller, and her sister-in-law, Jeanne Bendot.
Peggy will be sadly missed by her friends and neighbors.
Peggy will be cremated with no services. Her urn will be placed next to Ray and Patrick in Saint Paul’s cemetery mausoleum.
