Margaret Zilich

Margaret Zilich, 84, of Weirton, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Born November 21, 1929 in Penowa, PA, she was a daughter of the late Mike Korpos and Anna Petrosky Korpos Opalenek. She was also preceded in death by her husband Anton J. Zilich, her 18 month old son, Joseph Zilich, her brothers Charles, Frank, Mike and John Korpus and George Opalenek and sisters Mary Bonanza, Elizabeth Perloski, Julie Gevenosky and Erma Zick.
Mrs. Zilich was a homemaker, who was always willing to help others in need. She enjoyed gardening in her yard, baking, canning and making jelly, but she will always be remembered for her famous mouth watering apple pies.
She was a member of the SNPJ Lodge and the Jefferson County Historical Society.
Margaret is survived by her sons Anton (Sharon) Zilich of Norwalk, CT, John (Sandy Kay) Zilich of Minnetonka MN and Saint Petersburg, FL; , Mark (Tammie) Zilich of Weirton and Robert (Beverly) Zilich of New Cumberland, WV; sister Helen Peterson of Avella, PA and 3 granddaughters, Emily, Clare and Leah Zilich.
Visitation will be held Sunday 3-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 11AM Monday. The Reverend Father Larry Dorsch will officiate. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Florence, PA.

Mom will miss you dearly, as a loving friend and sister-in-law. You special smile and laugh and all the beautiful flowers you would take her from your garden always made her day.
