Mark Aaron Kaczmarek, of Weirton, West Virginia, peacefully passed away on December 1, 2023, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 59 years old.
On March 14, 1964, Mark was the first of two children born to Martin and Sandra (Mackson) Kaczmarek.
Kacz, as he was known to his classmates, graduated from Weirton Madonna High School in 1982. He continued his education at West Virginia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a certificate in nuclear medicine.
Throughout his career, Mark contributed to his community in various capacities. He served as a Weirton Councilman for Ward 7, and he worked in nuclear medicine at Weirton Medical Center. Kacz also had a stint as a DJ alongside his good friend Rick Lamar and later worked as a financial service representative at Citizens Bank, and Kaczmarek Financial Services, concluding his professional journey.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark was deeply involved in sports, coaching, and refereeing throughout the tri-state area. His coaching career concluded with the Upward Basketball League at Crossroads Church in Wintersville. An avid bowler and fisherman, Mark found joy in sharing these activities with family and friends.
One of Mark’s greatest passions was Halloween, where he would channel his creativity into the Sacred Heart Night Terrors Haunted House, introducing new ideas and crafting props each year. He cherished family vacations, particularly to Deep Creek, Maryland, where fishing, flaming bananas, miniature golf, card games, and laughter were staples.
Mark grew up in Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. In the last couple years Mark came to call Crossroads Christian Church in Wintersville, OH, his church home where he was recently baptized.
Mark was greeted in Heaven by his father, Marty who passed away in 2020.
Mark will be remembered with love by his mother, Sandra (Mackson) Kaczmarek, his daughters Courtney and Samantha Kaczmarek, mother of his daughters, Debbie (Porco) Rusinovich; his sister, Lori (Mark) Thomas; his niece, Kelsey (Matt) Cole and children, and nephew James (Katie) Fulciniti. Kacz’s memory will be eternal to the millions of friends he made throughout his life.

You and your family are in my thoughts as you grieve the tremendous loss of Mark. I will never forget the great times I shared with him and your family during those precious years growing up in Weirton. Mark was one of the good guys. He fought courageously to the end of one of life’s most difficult battles. One that many could not endure. I will never forget his smile. May You rest in peace Mark.

Sandra & Lori. I am so sad to hear of Mark’s passing. I remember our childhood days at the Zellars and Aunt Nancy’s like it was yesterday. Mark was a good person who accomplished alot for our community. My thoughts are with you all.
To all the Kaczmarek family… I knew Mark through my husband, Stan, and he shared so many fun memories with me of them growing up together in Weirton. I knew Mark as the friendly and welcoming, consummate host of the party. He was always interested in making people smile and was never at a loss to do so. My own children know him from the haunted house and they said they will miss being able to do that with him next year. Holding you all close in love, faith, and prayers on this grief journey. Much love to you and yours.
Sandy & Family,
