Mary Ann Carr, 71, of Weirton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Valley Hospice Care Center North. Born on February 8, 1955, in Weirton, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Hattie Mae Cunningham Carr.
Mary Ann was a remarkable individual known for her warmth, wit, and endless compassion. For thirty-seven years, she proudly operated her own janitorial service, dedicating herself fully to her work and the clients she served. Her children fondly remember her sharp sarcasm and spirited opinions, often delivered without a filter—except for the one on her coffee maker.
Those who knew Mary Ann understood she had a special place in her heart for animals. She spent countless hours caring for strays, routinely feeding rabbits and deer that wandered into her yard. Her love for her furry companions extended to her cherished cats, Patches and Joey, who brought her immense joy.
A lover of thrift and treasure, Mary Ann enjoyed exploring yard sales and shopping at the Salvation Army, where her thrifty nature shone through. She had a remarkable ability to put others’ needs before her own, demonstrating her kindness and generosity.
In addition to her many passions, she adored dancing and cherished moments spent with her boyfriend, Teddy Bear.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers David and Ernest Carr, sisters Anna Mae Starvaggi and Ginny Smith, granddaughter Precious Dawn Daniels, and great-granddaughter Bailey Marie Coleman.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Troy Andrew ( Valerie) Daniels of East Liverpool, OH. Mark Alan Daniels of Weirton, and Melvin Arthur Daniels, Jr., sisters, Peggy Sue Rice, Harriet Sturges, and Betty Dye, grandchildren, Tayler Ann Davidson, Katelynn Marie Daniels, and Sara Daniels, great-grandchildren, Alice Mae and Bella Rose Daniels, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins., and of course her Teddy Bear, Donald Mossor.
A private funeral service will be celebrated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Minister Rick Tinsky will officiate.
