Mary Ann Susan (Puskarich) Tassey, 90, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025, at her home. Born November 26, 1934, in Weirton, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine Matijasic Puskarich, both of Ogulin, Yugoslavia.

Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis (Lou) Tassey, her sister Rose Puskarich, her brothers George Paar, John, Thomas, Marco, and Rudy Puskarich, and an infant brother, George.

After the passing of her husband, Lou Tassey, she made her home with her son, Robert, who provided her with exceptional care, great love, and devotion. She was truly, truly blessed to have him.

Before she even graduated from Weir High School, she had an executive secretarial position with Bechtel Construction, inside Weirton Steel, a profession she did most of her career. She also played the violin for the Wheeling Symphony after graduating high school, owned a gas station, and real estate during the 1950s, a restaurant, and a children’s shop during the 1970s, and many rental properties in the 2000s.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Mary Ann’s survivors include her children, Michelle (David) Craig of Bethesda, OH; Rachelle (Art) Sidone of Waynesboro, VA; Richard (Kim) Hvizdak of Weirton, WV; Mark (Meg) Hvizdak of Aliquippa, PA; Jacque’ (Bob – deceased) Daigle of Imperial, PA; Robert Hvizdak of Weirton, WV; and Cindy Rooney of Canonsburg, PA.
Grandchildren: Lucas (Sherawna) Beadling, Vanessa (Tim) Lucas, Jordan (Brittany) Beadling, Caleb Hvizdak, Danielle ( Carl) Young, Mica Hvizdak, Abigail Hvizdak, Michael Hvizdak, Nic Daigle, Mia (Caleb) Daigle Boy, Dr. Gannon (Gabby) Rooney, Conan Rooney, and Muirinn Rooney, and great-grandchildren: Coco and Landon Beadling, and Isaiah and Elijah Lucas.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 9, 2025, from 3-7 pm, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, 26062.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 229 California Ave., Weirton, 26062.

Fr. Anthony G. Thurston will officiate.

Entombment will be at St. Paul’s Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church.
