Mary Caroline “Mi-Mi” McGuire, 74, of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 3, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born on September 26, 1950, in Whittier, California, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Francis Stephen and Dorothy Agnes Guatteri McGuire.
At the time of her birth, doctors believed institutionalization would be necessary, but her devoted parents chose a different path. Her mother, a registered nurse, gave up her career dedicating her life to Mary’s care. For the next forty years, Mary thrived
in the loving embrace of her family home, bringing joy and companionship that shaped the heart of their lives.
As her parents aged, they made the decision to relocate from California closer to extended relatives, and Mary became a cherished resident of Allegheny Valley School (AVS). There, she lived in the Brick House and found meaningful purpose working in Food Service. Mary brought enthusiasm to everything she did, and her face lit up each time she returned home for the weekend—only to eagerly anticipate going back to her friends and routines.
Mary had an infectious joy and a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. She relished visits to restaurants, concerts, and amusement parks. A true music aficionado, Mary had an uncanny ability to recognize Big Band tunes in mere seconds—no one could beat her
in a game of “Name That Tune.” Family barbecues and picnics brought her great happiness, and she especially enjoyed helping out by folding towels and emptying the dishwasher with pride.
She will be remembered with love by her extended Sessi and Beadling families, including her loving guardians Darlene Sessi,Karen Beadling Renne, and her family at the Brick House of AVS. The family cannot express enough gratitude to the staff of AVS for all of the love and care they gave Mary all of these many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, West Virginia.
Rev. Fr. Binu Sebastian will preside.
Mary will be laid to rest beside her parents at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul’s Church, Allegheny Valley School or to the choice of the donor.

I remember the day Mary came to brick house, i was the assistant at the time, What a joy she was and how she enjoyed activities provided for her. it didn’t take her long to learn all the staffs name and the schedules they worked. Mary would inform staff who was off that day and ask Why, we would explain they needed a day off . Mary always had a lot of why questions, once questions answered she would sing her little happy now happy now lalalala as she spinned in front of her chair to sit down. she had a memory that just shocked me as she would ask about staff that had been gone for years why so and so no come back to brick house many days, making me actually think, Mary may you rest in Peace you will never be forgotten here we will continue to sing your happy now happy now lalala song
