Mary Elizabeth Gaylord Torchio, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH. Mary was born November 26, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Theresa Gaylord. She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "Torch" Torchio. Mary is survived by her daughters Marianne Czapla and her husband Larry of Coto deCasa, CA and Carolee Sikora and her husband Danny of Weirton, WV; granddaughters Krista Czapla Callaghan and Danielle Sikora Gambone and great grandchildren Maya Rose Callaghan and Dominic Joseph IV, Daniel Anthony and Anthony Jude Gambone. Mary is also survived by her brother George Gaylord and sisters Isabelle Taglione, Helen Critser and Lorraine Buehler all of Columbus, OH. Mary was an avid reader and master gardener. She was a wonderful homemaker, friend and neighbor and was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Friends and family will be received Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 9 until 10:45AM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, followed by Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11AM at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Larry Dorsch will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery mausoleum. The family would like to thank Valley Hospice for their wonderful care, kindness and spiritual support. The family would also like to thank Dr. Rahman of Teramana Cancer Center for treating our mother with great dignity and compassion. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thimmiah for not only being a wonderful family physician but, more importantly, a special family friend. Thank you also to Father Larry Dorsch for his life-long friendship and spiritual support.
