Mary S. Burskey

Mary S. Burskey, 84, of Weirton, WV died Thursday July 11, 2013, at the Weirton Geriatric Center.
Born on September 9, 1928 in Wetzel County, WV Mary was a daughter of the late Abraham and Amanda Leasure Highley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Martin Joseph Burskey whom she married on September 17, 1966; a son William Mercer; a daughter Betty Oldaker; a daughter in law Earlene Mercer; two sisters, Juanita Cumbridge and Orpha Highley; two brothers, Paul Highley and Gary Skinner; and a great granddaughter, Sophia Mercer.
Mary was a homemaker. She was very active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she was the Past State President. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the AARP.
She was a parishioner and a Eucharistic Minister of Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Christian Mothers.
She is survived by her five sons, Richard Mercer, Charles (Milly) Mercer and Joe (Debbie) Mercer all of New Cumberland, WV, Robert (Lee) Mercer of Fairview, Pa and David (Debbie) Mercer of Erie, PA; a son in law, Denny Oldaker of New Cumberland, WV; a sister, Louise (Junior) Underwood of East Liverpool, OH; a brother, John Skinner of Follansbee, WV; ; a sister in law , Martha Highley of Weirton, WV; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon Saturday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV.
Interment will follow at Saint Paul's Cemetery, Weirton, WV.
A VFW Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Service will be conducted 7:30 PM Friday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Grade School, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
