maryann kurenszki

MaryAnn Wilson Kurenszki, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, of Weirton, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, February 12, 2024. She was eighty-four years old.

She was born in Wheeling, WV. on April 13, 1939. A daughter to Walter and Mary Chupa Wilson.

MaryAnn grew up in Weirton, West Virginia and was a 1958 graduate of Weir High School. She had worked as a secretary for Weirton Steel before getting married and settling into her role as a homemaker following her marriage to Bill Kurenszki which lasted fifty-nine years. Sadly, Bill passed on January 1, 2021.

The highlight of her life were her grandchildren. She never missed any of their activities as she was their proudest fan.

MaryAnn will always be known for her cooking. She was most content and at her happiest when she was preparing meals for others. Additionally, she enjoyed reading a good book and playing bingo.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and sisters Helen and Olga Wilson.

Left to cherish her memory with the utmost love and compassion are her daughters Renee (Curt) Virtue of Wintersville, and Lori (Dave) Bernola of Weirton, grandchildren Justin and Nicole Virtue and Olivia and Isabella Bernola, brothers George (Linda) Wilson and Walter Wilson all of Weirton, sister-in-law Elizabeth (Laszlo) Csonka of Hungary, and niece Jody (David) Preskar of Pittsburgh, PA

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and beloved friends at Serra Manor for making a huge impact in MaryAnn’s life; and the exceptional care provided by Valley Hospice in her final journey.

Private Family Funeral Services for MaryAnn will be held at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

MaryAnn will be buried next to her husband Bill in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
