Melissa Anne Rowland
March 18, 1981 ~ September 24, 2020
Melissa Anne Roy Rowland of Weirton, the most caring and genuine person you could ever meet, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the age of 39.
Born on March 18, 1981, in Weirton, WV, Melissa was the second born child to James Michael and Eva Marie Kowalik Roy, Sr.
Melissa grew up in Weirton, WV, and graduated from Weir High School in 1999. After high school, she worked as a nurse aide on the fifth floor at Trinity Hospital for 15 years. Wanting to better herself, she enrolled in college and studied pharmacy at Penn Foster and became a certified pharmacy technician.
Melissa was also formerly employed at Cigna and was currently employed as a Benefit Verification Specialist for Connective RX, in Bridgeville, Pa.
In her free time, Melissa would always be there for others, constantly running and caring for her children.
She loved decorating her home and making things with her Cricut. She loved traveling to Hilton Head with her family and always dreamed about retiring in the Carolina’s. Melissa always wore her flip flops year-round. She and her husband Chad also loved to go out to eat and try new restaurants. Wings were her favorite. They also shared their love for Hockey and would cheer for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
But nothing compared to the unconditional love she had for her family. She cherished the times watching them play soccer, attending their school activities, or just having a movie night at home.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde G. Roy, Jr. and Steve, and Olga Kowalik; her aunt Judy Duvall. She passed away with her daughter, Madison Renee “Flo” Crowe.
She will be remembered with love by her husband, Chad Rowland; her parents, James Michael and Eva Marie Kowalik Roy; her son, Connor Crowe, her stepdaughters, Rabeka Lynn, Lexus Marie and Jessie Leigh Rowland, her brother, James Michael Roy, Jr.; her Munya, Dolores A. Roy; her uncle, Dan Duvall; and mother-in-law, Janet Ridgway.
Visitation will be 1-8 PM Wednesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Upon arrival at the funeral home, please follow the directions of the funeral home staff for paying respects.
Funeral services will be private.
