Michael Grubor, Jr., 78 died Saturday December 30, 2000 at the Weirton Medical Center. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. Michael was born on February 22, 1922, the son of the late Michael Gruber, Sr. and Mildred Hayden Grubor. Michael was a retired railroad engineer from Weirton Steel where he had 39 1/2 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, St. Joseph Holy Name Society, Weirton Steel 25 year club, American Legion Post 10, and the Knights of Columbus #3734 where he was a 3rd degree knight. He was also a WWII army veteran. He married his wife, Catherine Matesic Grubor on May 27, 1946 and together they raised three children: Michael G. and Mark A., both of Weirton, and Darlene Ann Grubor of Pittsburgh, PA. He is also survived by a brother Joseph Grubor of Weirton, a sister Helen Vukotich of Bridgeville, PA, as well as two grandchildren, Richelle and Melissa Grubor. Visitations will be Sunday from 7-9 PM and Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. A wake service will be held on Monday at 3:30 PM and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 PM Monday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the VFW, American Legion, and Tri-State Marine Corps.
