After living for several years with chronic illness, he passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife and surrounded by his family. His last words were of love to his wife and daughters and prayers for God to bring him home.
Mike was born on April 7, 1951 in Washington, Pennsylvania to Michael and Catherine (Matesic) Grubor, both deceased.
He graduated from Weir High School in 1969 and went on to attend Vale Technical School in Indiana, Pennsylvania. After graduation he started his 37-year career as a millwright in the Weirton Steel Tin Mill until his retirement in 2010.
He married the love of his life, Marian Paravano on May 31, 1975, at St. Joseph’s Church in Weirton, WV. Mike and Marian spent 49.5 years loving each other fiercely. Mike worked every day of his life in service to his family. He took pride in his home and pride in is work, but he was most proud of his family and the life he built with them.
Mike has two daughters, Richelle (Josh) Brinkley of Weirton, WV and Melissa (Matt) Cravitz of Harrisburg, PA. He is the grandfather to three grandchildren, Megan Brinkley, Alexander Brinkley, and Adeline Cravitz. Mike was happiest when he was able to be surrounded by his grandchildren.
Mike always had an affinity for cars and built himself a Triumph Spitfire which could be seen at various cruise-ins throughout the Ohio Valley in the 90’s. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Weirton and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Osprey, FL.
Mike will always be remembered as being a good and godly man who, above all, loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Catherine Grubor and his brother, Mark Grubor. He is survived by his sister Dee Grubor and his sister-by-heart, Linda Vance in addition to his wife, children and grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Venice, FL on Friday, November 22, at 10am.
The family will also host a Memorial Mass at St. Paul’s Church in Weirton, WV on Saturday, December 28, at 11am with a luncheon to follow where old friends are encouraged to visit with the family and share their memories of this incredible man.

Dearest Marian and family,
God has certainly taken Michael to be among the Saints around the Throne in Glory. He died too young. Please know of my heartfelt sympathy and prayers of support as you grieve your loss. Love always, Stan
Marian and family: I am so deeply sorry to read of your loss. Geez, I am so sorry. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Marian, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mike. I went to school with him and he was always a kind and caring person. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! God Bless!
I am very sorry to hear of Mikes passing. It took me since March of 1973 till just this past spring to find Mike on Google. I shared a room with him at Vale Tech.
Sympathies to the Gruber family. I knew Mike as co-worker in the Tin Mill. Nice man. So sorry.
